idX Louisville Begins Recycling Solid Wood Waste
idX Corporation, the preeminent manufacturer of consumer environments, has taken another step forward in its sustainability leadership, as it begins recycling solid wood waste.
idX Louisville/PanelWorks has installed a new Vecoplan Shredder, which allows the facility to recycle solid wood waste. The waste is then sold to a major recycling company that repurposes it for use as boiler fuel pellets and industrial spill kits.
idX Louisville has been recycling sawdust since 2006.
With the combined solid waste/sawdust program, idX Louisville/PanelWorks expects to recycle an estimated 19,000 tons (over 38 million pounds) of wood waste annually.
This waste previously would have gone to the landfill.
"Within the next 6 months, we will recycle as much as 95% of our wood waste," said Vincent Esposito, General Manager of idX Louisville. "As a result of our capital investments in sustainability, idX Louisville is now among the leaders in wood waste recycling in the retail fixture industry."

idX, GETTYS Partner to Offer Hospitality Industry Solution
Two leaders in their respective industries have joined forces to create the first-ever single-source hospitality industry project implementation solution.
GETTYS ONE, a comprehensive project solution designed by GETTYS and powered by idX, provides an entire project implementation solution with a single contract and point of contact, offering hospitality clients relief from the typical project headaches involved with coordinating multiple vendors.
The companies behind the solution are among the industry's most respected -- GETTYS, a leading global hospitality design, procurement, branding and development firm, and idX Corporation, the preeminent manufacturer of consumer environments.
Under GETTYS ONE, custom design is provided by GETTYS, with implementation -- including procurement, architect-of-record, permitting, construction, logistics and installation -- provided by idX. All services are warranted and are under a single contract and point of contact, leaving the client free to focus on their hotel operations.
"GETTYS ONE is all about one simple solution," said Roger Hill, chairman and CEO of GETTYS. "The property owner will only need to keep one phone number handy and sign only one contract. The owner escapes the confusion, complications and finger-pointing that so often accompanies work with multiple contractors."

idX & Bergmeyer - Boston Museum of Fine Arts
Boston's Museum of Fine Arts has opened a new Special Exhibition Shop that is designed to last a decade or more, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the architect, Bergmeyer Associates, and the fixture provider, idX Corporation.
The museum asked Bergmeyer to take the existing, 1,700-sq. ft. shop and fit it into a new 1,000-sq. ft. space. They also asked the architect to develop a design that allowed for the merchandising flexibility needed to accommodate temporary exhibits. And, by the way, they added, give us a shop that will last at least 10 years.
To create flow through the small, square footprint, Bergmeyer subtly defined a circulation area allowing visitors to move comfortably through the space.
To address the durability challenge, Bergmeyer first considered fixtures made completely from solid surface material. In value engineering the fixtures, idX recommended a combination of solid surface material and powder-coated heavy-gauge steel. Combining the two materials not only lowered the cost by 25 per cent, but resulted in more durable fixtures with lower maintenance cost.
The styling and detailing of the fixturing was kept clean and modern, like the building architecture, as a neutral backdrop for the museum's visual merchandising team.
Finally, the museum's need for flexibility was addressed through a "kit of parts" fixturing system. The system includes interchangeable fittings, movable floor fixtures, the ability to create and relocate feature wall displays, and the ability to create merchandise display "stories" by mixing components and merchandise types within the same display. To minimize trips to the stock room during operating hours, the fixtures were designed to provide back-stock storage throughout the store.
All fixtures were engineered, manufactured and supplied by idX Toronto.

BCBG, idX Team Up
Lola is styl-ish, but with a mind of her own. She likes a little pink, but she's no princess. And she definitely likes to mix it up. Now, she has a rocking new home of her own at Mall of America, thanks to a partnership between BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP and idX Corporation.
Lola is a lifestyle collection of runway trends edited to a specific taste for girls who live on a budget and want a boutique shopping experience with personalized service.
Lola's story began just this past February, when Max Azria went to Danny Moizel, BCBG's Sr. Vice President of Real Estate, and told him he needed a Herculean effort to bring Lola to life for the fall season.
Moizel in turn issued a challenge to Chris Love, BCBG's Vice President of Architecture and Construction, and his team: Come up with a concept for Lola that will appeal to young women ages 16-26, and do it quickly. Love put together a small group-just six people representing design, merchandising, visual, buying and himself.
"Who is Lola? What's the price point? Where does she shop? Who's her dog? Where does she live? What's missing in the marketplace when Lola goes shopping? How can we give her apartment a vibe?" To the entire team, and throughout the process, Lola was a real person.
The resulting store design is as unique as Lola herself and reflects her taste, her personality and the way she lives. It is her at-home world brought to life in a boutique setting. Comprised of a series of rooms that she lives in, the store replicates her studio living room, bedroom and closet.
With the Lola plan complete, the team put together a concept book on the store, and sent it to 14 fixture companies. In March, Love and his team met with all 14 companies at GlobalShop, holding back-to-back one-hour meetings.
BCBG's choice for partnering on the project was idX Corporation, a worldwide leader in fixture manufacturing, logistics and project management for the retail, hospitality, financial and point-of-purchase markets.
"It was a new retail concept altogether with incredible potential," said Mike Burton, idX St. Louis Vice President of Business Development. "We were thrilled to work so closely with the entire Lola team from the beginning, helping refine what was clearly going to be a great success."
idX quickly prototyped the fixtures, built a model store in their St. Louis showroom and top BCBG executives flew into St. Louis to review it. For many of them, it was the first time they had seen the Lola store concept, and they loved it. After a few tweaks, Danny Moizel jumped on a plane to Las Vegas in May, where he presented the concept to a very receptive audience of developers, and Chris Love flew to China, where he visited idX's manufacturing facility near Shanghai.
Lola became the launch pad for idX's new program that allows fixtures to be shipped directly from its China manufacturing facility to the store. The program, made possible because idX's China operation is wholly owned, offers significant time savings, which were critical to this project.
"idX were true partners on this project," Love said. "We went from concept to reality in six months, and we couldn't have pulled this off without their hard work and incredible resources. They were not the lowest-priced supplier, but we had the most confidence in idX and felt they would be able to successfully execute this project, which was critically important to BCBG."
Lola opened her doors at Mall of America on Oct.15, closely followed by Plaza las Americas in San Juan on Oct. 28. As expected, young women have responded phenomenally well. "Sales are far better than expected," Love said. "Because the vibe is so cool and the sales people are trained to relate to the customers, girls don't want to leave the store."
